River Ramble and Toilet Tourism Claughton Reserve, Bayswater

Writer: Cheryl OsborneCheryl Osborne

We were amazed at the 'mushroom' brown glazed tiled roof toilet block, with cormorants holding the roof on their beaks! Inside, the entry walls of the 'ladies' were bright pink and the 'gents' blue with small glazed panes to match!

A tourist attraction in itself. Toilet tourism is growing globally, and the City of Bayswater is hoping to capitalise, with a new creation emerging slowly from an ugly, 1960's toilet block.

Artist and stonemason Duncan Moon is flushed with pride at what he's created.
