Feast for Freedom for Asylum Seekers

Writer: Cheryl OsborneCheryl Osborne

A group of keen chefs donned our purple Wheels aprons and set about cooking up a feast of preselected recipes from the Recipe Book provided by the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre (ASRS) After seemingly endless chopping, sizzling, bubbling and processing some very tasty dishes emerged. Tables in the dining room of Hilltop Community Centre were set to seat everyone. We had a raffle with some interesting prizes and a bar. A very kind donor gifted the food costs so we were able to donate to ASRC just over $1000.
