About Us
Who are we?
‘Wheels’ is an independent, not-for-profit group of like minded older people and is organised by the members for members doing what they want to do.
It is managed by a Committee of up to 10 members, who meet monthly and who are elected or re-elected annually at the group’s annual general meeting.
Our Aim
Our aim is to provide recreational, social and cultural activities for any person who is over the age of 50 years. Furthermore, we hope to promote health and well-being and encourage members to lead an active life. We also want to provide the opportunity to have a network of friends who will support each other through the ageing years.
Our History
The group known as ‘Wheels’ grew from a meeting of 12 friends who first joined together on 2 June 2010. Each founding member made a contribution of $50 to cover start up costs.
The Rules of Association was filed on 8 September 2010 and a Certificate of Incorporation under the Associations Incorporations Act 1987, registered number A1014964R for Wheels Inc. was issued by the WA Department of Commerce on 15 September 2010.
‘Wheels’ was formally launched in the community at the Whim Festival on 23 October 2011.
